A Family Holiday to the Maldives

Hi I’m Priya a Travel Blogger from Chennai who currently lives in Dallas, Texas.  We love travelling as a family and taking our kids to see the world.  One such memorable trip was to our family holiday to the Maldives last December.

Most winters we are on a beach, from Bora Bora to the Bahamas we have been to a few but one that tops our list is our trip to the Maldives.  We spent a few days watching the sun come up and listening to the ocean from our overwater villas. Taj Exotica Resort and Spa is located on the Emboodhu Finolhu Island. This island used to be called ‘Three Coconut Island’ and is in the middle of one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives.

Getting there is quite easy as well. We flew from Chennai to Male through Colombo on SriLankan Airlines. Taj Exotica is just a 20-minute boat ride away from Male airport, so no need for any seaplanes.

You are guaranteed a Magical Holiday in the Maldives anywhere you stay, the water is perfect, the atmosphere is relaxing and there is abundant marine life and water activities.  There are so many resorts in the Maldives. We loved our stay at Taj Exotica in the Maldives it was one of the best Christmas spent on a beach!

The accommodations and villas have palm-thatched roofs, interiors with natural wood finishes, large windows with beautiful views of the lagoon, plush beds, and many of the villas have private plunge pools.

We stayed in two Deluxe Villas, that had its own pool and a bathtub with sea view.  For smaller families, one additional bed can be added to the rooms.  Since our kids are a little older we ended up getting 2 villas.  We saw a lot of families visiting and the resort seemed to be popular for both families and couples on their honeymoon. I loved the architecture and the decor inspired by the local Maldivian culture.

One thing we love about staying at Taj properties is having access to yummy Indian food and Taj Exotica did not disappoint.  We enjoyed our usual favorites of egg burji, fresh fish, parathas, poori masala and panner dishes.

While we love staying at Luxury Resorts that cater to families, we try to find the best value for the money, stretch our travel money to get the best experience possible. You can’t go wrong with the Taj Group of Hotels.  We have busy lives and our kids are busy with school schedules and when we are on a break or holiday we want to be indulged!  And Taj Maldives did just that!

We all have such limited vacation days, limited vacation money and even more limited time with the kids.  So sometimes it is ok to exchange some of that hard-earned money for memories. Travel is not about counting countries or passport stamps… it is all about experiences and memories! Our memories from the Maldives is one that we will cherish for a very long time!
